Choose Courage over Comfort
When's the last time you did something that felt courageous? Something that felt a bit scary, but you took a chance. Or something that made you feel vulnerable and you did it anyway.
When I sat down last month to write out my reflections from last year and my goals and intentions for this year, my main goal for the year 2021 became "Strive to Fail." Or to "Choose Courage over Comfort"
For me, this means to stop letting my fear of failure hold me back from taking chances. Stop seeking approval, and start seeking improvement. When faced with the option to be comfortable and stay where I'm at or choose courage no matter what the outcome might look like, to choose courage every time.
And let me tell you, it's been working out great. I've made some bold moves that were scary as hell and they're paying off. I've also taken some chances that didn't quite work out, and amazingly I still feel great about them. Because I've shifted the end-goal.
The end-goal is no longer approval or perfection. It's no longer about the result of taking the chance. It's about the chance itself.
Courage looks different for everybody. Our life experiences are all different. Something that might seem like nothing for one person is a huge leap for someone else. Don't compare yourself to others. Instead, define what courage looks like for you and then take a chance. Be afraid to "fail" and then do it anyway.
Because if you never ask, the answer will always be no. And if you never try, then you may never reveal your potential greatness.
